I’m a one-woman support team for an Appalachian Trail thru-hiker. My Mountain Man started his adventure on April 10, 2015. I suspect that this will be the adventure (and challenge) of a lifetime for him. Although I’m not on the trail myself, I know that I will also face battles along the way.
Mountain Man and I looked for resources on how to support and supply AT thru hikers, but struggled to find comprehensive help. Even more wanting are launchpads for discussing what it’s like to be the supporters at home, often out of contact and out of control.
This blog serves two purposes – to share what we’ve learned about trip planning, supplies, meals, and mail drops, and to update Mountain Man’s friends and family on his progress. You can view trip updates by visiting the blog page. If you know Mountain Man, you can request a password to view photos by contacting me here.
If you’re supporting a hiker this season or planning a trip, please drop me a line – I would love to hear from you.
